I found that people were either so kind and willing to share memories and allow me to talk about my grief or they just didn't acknowledge it, for whatever reason. I think those people are the ones who've never experienced loss, who don't understand how important is to talk about those people who took up such a big part of your life and now are gone.

How wonderful that your friend shared such kind words about your dad. And what a tribute to your husband, to be the one who brought you and your dad back together.

Take care, my friend.Joann Mannixhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11163491824085428085noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3112835656136732522.post-42644883687446691712011-02-06T18:53:10.742-07:002011-02-06T18:53:10.742-07:00My dad was difficult too, but now, looking back, I...My dad was difficult too, but now, looking back, I see all the good in him. Thankfully that has never happened to me although in recent times my mother has been a bit difficult. I guess it's an old age and living alone thing which possibly will come to me some day.
I'm glad you reconciled with your dad and could offer him a home in the end.Paulinehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15276284964859313257noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3112835656136732522.post-67928752991210083332011-02-02T19:02:18.353-07:002011-02-02T19:02:18.353-07:00Lovely post Sandy! She was a chronic alcoholic and over the counter drug addict. I was in the military and had kids and just couldn't deal with her. She died at 52 and we never reconciled before she died. I had some regrets, but eventually dealt with my feelings. I did hear from others, as you did, who loved her and even respected her. I'm glad someone did, as I was unable to.
Thanks for sharing you story.
TerriAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
